We Must Preach Prosperity

Nothing is spoken against more than prosperity, yet no need is greater among Christians. Is it because the devil is against us having money?

Why should we preach prosperity?

God's will for mankind is prosperity. (For evidence, please request a free copy of Bible Evidence For Prosperity).

* When people are poor God is robbed of pleasure.

Psalm 35:27
27 . . . And let them say continually, "Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."

When people do not have enough to give, God is denied pleasure.

Philippians 4:18
18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

2 Corinthians 9:7
7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

* Jesus paid the price for mankind's prosperity.

Isaiah 53:5
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

When you study the word "peace" in the Bible you find it includes the idea of our well-being in every area of life.

2 Corinthians 8:9
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

Why did Jesus become poor? Not to set an example -- but that you might become rich! The price has been paid.

* We are to teach all people all things Jesus taught.

Matthew 28:19-20
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Prosperity is part of the Gospel of Christ. He commanded us to "preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)

Luke 4:18
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,"

* It requires money to obey the Great Commission of Jesus to proclaim the good news to everyone.

The Body of Christ on earth has many needs. It usually has been hindered and limited in its outreach to help people because of a lack of funds. With more money, we can help more people. We can print more literature, send out more missionaries, build more churches, etc.

Is it God's will for us to be hampered in outreach to the people Jesus loved so much He died in their place?

We need prosperity not just so we can be comfortable, which is not wrong, but so we can be more fruitful members of the Body of Christ.

* More people have financial needs than any other kind.

Millions suffer and die from malnutrition. Millions live without adequate shelter or clothing.

Only God is great enough to take care of everyone. We do not have the resources to care for the world directly without God's help. All the people of the world need to walk in God's blessings themselves and be productive.

Does God's Word say anything about God ever blessing people materially? Does He care if people are hungry now, like He did hundreds of years ago in Galilee?

Matthew 15:32
32 Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."

Can you obtain food without any money?

* We must believe prosperity is God's will or we will never receive it.

Matthew 8:13
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour.

* We receive from God only by Faith.

Matthew 9:29
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you."

Galatians 3:9
9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

We have access to God's grace only by faith.

Romans 5:2
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

God set it up this way, not to hold out on us, but to insure His blessing is available to all.

Romans 4:16
16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

* Faith comes only by receiving God's message on that subject.

Romans 10:17
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith comes by hearing God's Word. Without being proclaimed people cannot believe it.

Scores of scriptures throughout the Bible inform you God is interested in mankind's prosperity. If you do not feed those scriptures to your inner being you will not believe God's will for you is prosperity.

What would happen to people if no one ever preached Jesus is a Savior: that He died to pay the penalty for their sins? Would they get saved anyway? Would they believe in Jesus if no one told them about Him? Did you believe Jesus would save you before someone told you He would?

What will happen to the poor people of the world if no one ever preaches it is God's will for their needs to be met?

God's Word is for all people.

3 John 1:2
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Your soul can only prosper as you are taught the Word of God.

God is interested in people being blessed in every area of life. Just because some have taken this message and abused it is no excuse to not preach the Bible truth.

How much preaching have you heard on prosperity being God's will? How many preachers ever preach on the subject?

In contrast, how many preach on salvation? How many messages have you heard on salvation? Do you have more confidence God will save people than you do that God will prosper people? Why?

Is it because the Bible has more to say about spiritual salvation? No! Jesus talked more about money than He did heaven or hell.

Faith comes only by hearing what God has to say on the subject. Until and unless you hear that message, you will not have any basis for believing.

A "mass faith" results from many Christians strongly believing something in God's Word. It is easier to believe when there are many others who already believe.

It is easier now to fly across the ocean on an airplane than it was for the first man to do so. The more people do it, the easier it is for us to believe we could do it also.

The more sinners receive Christ and are changed by Him, the easier it is to believe He will save you.

It works this way on every Bible subject. Today more people believe Jesus is a Healer than fifty years ago. That did not happen overnight, but evolved as many preached on the subject, and many people received divine healing.

Likewise, as we study and preach prosperity our faith will grow and the Church will go forward.

* God's Word is a seed that will produce fruit if planted.

Luke 8:11
11 ". . . The seed is the word of God."

How many cucumbers will you get from your garden if you never plant any cucumber seed? How much wheat will you harvest if you do not plant any wheat seed?

Jesus made it clear God's Word is a seed, so can you expect it to produce in your life without ever being planted there?

If prosperity is not preached to you, or you do not study and meditate on it yourself, it is not being planted. So do not be surprised when there is no harvest of abundance in your life.

Without Bible preaching you cannot expect people to have any faith on a subject. That is the situation now with "God's will is prosperity." Instead of prosperity, the opposite lie has usually been preached: to please God and be spiritual you must be poor.

No wonder so many Christians do not believe the will of God is their prosperity. They have not had the prosperity seed planted. The few that had it planted are being tempted to pull it up, because of so much negative preaching on the subject.

The more we proclaim it, the more the Body of Christ will believe it. The more we believe it, the more we will receive God's blessings. The more we prosper, the more we can help people, and the more God will be pleased.
